Sports Leaders

We recently hosted Farnborough Road Infants and Junior Sports Day with all the events being run by our wonderful Sports Leaders. Mr Antell, Headteacher wrote, “A huge thank you to all your students and staff who have helped make our sports day a great success. You should be very proud of your wonderful school community who always make us very welcome!” The leaders support many of our local primary school sports days.

Athletics

Congratulations to our athletics team who were recently runners up at the Sefton championships.   Well done to Year 10 who won their year group. There were several individual champions who are photographed above.

Rounders

Greenbank competed at the annual Southport and Formby rounders tournament with representatives from each year group. The tournament was hosted by Stanley High School and had over 40 teams competing. The standard was extremely high on what was a very hot afternoon. There were some fantastic individual performances with playing keeping a cool head in some fairly tight matches. In particular the Year 9 who were pushed to a draw in one match winning on batters out. Well done to all that competed, Year 7 came 4th and Years 8, 9 and 10 all won their respective age groups. Well played to all as there was some excellent sportsmanship also on display.

Tennis

The Tennis Team had a very successful day in the Schools Southport and Formby Tournament. All girls played very well, they played in a fair manner and showed good sportsmanship to the other teams. The Year 7 and 10 doubles teams were very strong in their division, with both gaining first place. The Year 8’s had some very close matches and overall they were runners up in their age category. The Year 9’s had some close games, which could have gone either way and they came third overall.
