PE & Sport

Physical Education is a well-resourced and successful part of the school. We have a highly skilled and very experienced team who teach a wide range of sports and physical activities. As well as our reputation for fielding strong teams who successfully compete with schools across the area we have a fully inclusive extra-curricular programme that caters for all pupils.

To support our pupils we have unmatched facilities in the area with our large playing fields, sports hall, gym, health and fitness suite, all-weather multipurpose outdoor pitch and new modern changing facilities.

The Physical Education Department offers pupils many varied pathways, qualifications and opportunities. We strongly believe that every child matters and we aim to fulfil each child’s potential to give them a lifelong love of Physical Education. Our curriculum is therefore structured towards enabling pupils to progress and reach their potential. We offer a broad and balanced curricular and extra-curricular programme to achieve this.

Our Vision

“High quality PE for all pupils”

We believe this can only be achieved through clear targets and standards.

  • High quality teaching
  • High expectations of achievement levels and behaviour.
  • Sound personalised curriculum organisation and planning.
  • A well-defined system of assessment, recording and reporting which is shared with the students.
  • An extensive extra-curricular programme giving equality of opportunity.

Extra- Curricular provision

We offer a very broad and engaging extra- curricular programme which aims to cater for the needs of all our pupils. There are clubs available at break time, lunchtimes and after school.

Our extra- curricular activities include: Netball, hockey, gymnastics, dance, badminton, basketball, athletics , tennis, rounders, cricket, rugby, fitness, benchball, dodgeball and cross country.

The Physical Education department is very keen to develop the leadership opportunities for our pupils. Our extensive leadership programme enables pupils to lead clubs and activities for younger pupils and our feeder primaries. Opportunities are given for our pupils to go on and gain Formal leadership qualifications.
