Vision
At Greenbank High School, we are committed to creating a culture of excellence in learning and impeccable behaviour, where every pupil is supported to succeed, develop their potential and thrive.
Our approach is fundamentally values-driven. We believe that education is about more than academic achievement; it is about developing confident, responsible young people who understand themselves, value others and have the character, skills and courage to make a positive contribution to the world around them.
The Greenbank Way
The Greenbank Way is at the heart of our school culture. Our shared values shape how we learn, how we treat one another and how we contribute to our school and wider community.
Our values are embedded throughout our Personal Development (PD) curriculum and the wider life of the school through lessons, assemblies, PDT, the curriculum and our everyday interactions and experiences. They provide a shared language and clear sense of purpose, helping pupils to understand the qualities and behaviours that enable themselves and others to flourish.
The Greenbank Way also underpins our approach to learning and behaviour. We want pupils to understand not simply what we expect of them, but why these expectations matter and how they reflect the values we want them to develop throughout their time at Greenbank and beyond.
In practice, every pupil is expected to:

These expectations help pupils to put the Greenbank Way into action every day. Rooted in our core values, they support pupils to take responsibility for their choices, develop positive habits, build strong relationships and approach learning with purpose, ambition and integrity. Our core expectations provide a clear framework for behaviour and conduct, helping pupils understand not only what is expected of them, but also why these behaviours matter within our school community and beyond.
Our approach to behaviour is therefore about much more than rules or school consequences. It is about developing character, nurturing positive relationships and preparing young people to make responsible choices. Restorative practice is a daily and established part of life at Greenbank. We believe that when mistakes are made, pupils should be supported to take responsibility for their actions, understand the impact of their behaviour on others, and take meaningful steps to put things right. This commitment to repairing relationships, learning from mistakes and moving forward positively is woven throughout our school culture and reflects our core values and expectations.
Through high expectations, consistency, restorative conversations and strong relationships, we create a calm, purposeful environment where every pupil can learn and thrive. By promoting accountability, respect, kindness and resilience, we help pupils develop the character and habits needed for success both in school and in later life.
Our ambition is for every young person to leave Greenbank as a confident, compassionate, responsible and independent individual, equipped with the values, character and personal qualities to thrive in further education, employment and adult life.
